100 New Free Thai House Plans Released

The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) annouced this week that it will be making 100 new House Plans available for free to new home builders in Thailand.
These 100 new house designs represent builds from low cost ( 200,000 baht ) to luxury ( 6,000,000 baht ) and complement the existing 26 designs that are already distributed free of charge from the BMA Public Works Office.
Apparently the existing designs were not that popular with Bangkok City residents as they where viewed as being rather “old fashioned” and provincial so I will be waiting expectantly to see these new designs.
It is understood that the new designs are for houses from one to three storeys and ranging in size from 24 square wah to almost 200 square wah. The designs where provided by two of Thailand larger property developers Property Perfect and Landy Home which no longer build these particular designs and they have been approved by the Thailand Engineering Institute and the Association of Thailand Architects
The BMA estimate that by using one of the free Thai house plans builders will save at least 20,000 baht on their design costs as well as speed up the construction permit considerably.
It would appear that this provision of providing free house plans is something that we will see increase in Thailand and it is expected that the catalog of available free house plans will grow to over 1000 in the next three years.
Unsurprisingly these new house plans are not yet available in electronic form online and if / when locate a download point we will add them into our 3D visualisation project.
What is our Thai House Plans Visualization Project all about ?
The Thai Government provide a number of free House Designs for use by anyone building a house in Thailand, the main advantages of using these designs are the potential cost savings over paying for custom design and faster approval due to the “familiarity” with the design by the approvals office, perhaps there is also so advantage in the likelyhood that your builder may have built this exact design before and so his familiarity with the design might mean a better or faster build. The announcement this week that another 100 new designs are being added is great news as it expands the number of choices available and the word is that the new designs are quite modern.
Just because you choose from a standard design doesn’t mean that there is not lots of room for personalization including color schemes. landscaping and interior fitout and that is what our 3D Visualisation Project is all about.
We are taking the tradiotional 2D CAD style plans provided by the Thai Government and modeling them in 3D using our special 3D Home Design Software so that you can explore colors schemes, materials, landscaping etc.
This is what the traditional CAD style floorplans look like for Government House Design 7, a very small and modest home design from the original 26 free Thai House Designs.

And a screenshot from our 3D Visualisation Software of the same design.

You can see the menus for the color selection on the right hand side of the screen and the objects insertion menu on the left.
